Gemini setup
This guide shows how to connect Gemini in MetaLensAI using your Google AI Studio API key. Add the key once, save it in the app, and start Gemini voice conversations or picture analysis directly from your glasses.

Step 1 - Generate your Gemini API key
Sign in to Google AI Studio and create a Gemini API key. This key is required for Gemini conversations, Live Vision AI, and picture analysis in MetaLensAI.
- Open Google AI Studio API keys.
- Sign in with your Google account if prompted.
- Click Create API key or use an existing key from your AI Studio project.
- Copy the key and keep it ready for the next step.
Important: Do not share your Gemini API key publicly. Treat it like a password.

Step 2 - Add the key in MetaLensAI
- Open MetaLensAI on your Android phone.
- Go to Settings / AI Settings.
- If your version shows an AI provider selector, choose Gemini.
- Paste your key into the Gemini or Google AI Studio API key field and save changes.
- Tap Check Connection. If you see Connection OK, the configuration is valid.
Depending on your app version, Gemini can appear either as a dedicated API key field or as part of a provider selection flow in AI Settings.
If validation fails, make sure the key was copied completely, your phone has internet access, and your Google AI Studio account has Gemini API access enabled.
If needed, create a fresh API key in Google AI Studio and try again.
Step 3 - Start Gemini in the app
- Go back to the Home screen in MetaLensAI.
- Tap Start Conversation to launch Gemini voice chat.
- Use Live Vision AI if you want real-time insights from what your glasses camera sees.
- Use Picture Analysis if you want Gemini to describe or analyze the current view.
- If multiple AI providers are available in your version, confirm Gemini is selected before starting.
You can also personalize the experience by choosing the Gemini assistant voice that sounds most natural to you. A well-matched voice makes hands-free conversations clearer, more comfortable, and better suited for longer sessions on smart glasses.
