How to Stream from Meta Smart Glasses to Discord

Share the live video feed from your Meta smart glasses through Discord or any other platform that supports screen sharing.

Module status: in active development.

Share your glasses feed with screen sharing

Screencast displays the live video feed from your glasses inside MetaLensAI. You can then use the screen-sharing feature provided by a communication or streaming platform to share the MetaLensAI app screen with other participants.

This makes it possible to share the view from your glasses on platforms that do not accept an RTMP stream URL and stream key directly. The exact screen-sharing flow depends on the platform.

Screencast is still under active development. The interface, performance, and supported workflows may improve in future releases.

Example: share your glasses feed on Discord

  1. Open Discord and join the voice channel or streaming room where you want to share your video.
  2. Start screen sharing in Discord.
  3. In the Android popup titled Start recording or casting with Discord, set Scope to A single app and continue.
  4. Switch to the MetaLensAI app and open Screencast.
  5. Wait until the live video feed from your glasses appears on the screen.
  6. Tap anywhere on the video to hide the MetaLensAI interface controls.

Your phone now displays the glasses feed in MetaLensAI and shares that app screen through Discord.

FAQ

Can I use Screencast with platforms other than Discord?

Yes. Screencast is designed for platforms that can share your phone screen or a single app. The exact steps depend on the screen-sharing interface provided by each platform.

Why does Discord not use RTMP like the other streaming options?

Discord does not natively support RTMP (Real-Time Messaging Protocol). You cannot enter an RTMP stream key or URL directly into the application to broadcast. Screencast therefore uses Android screen sharing to pass the glasses feed to Discord and similar platforms.

Why can the video quality be lower?

Screen sharing places a significant additional load on your phone while it receives and displays the video feed from your glasses. On less powerful devices, this may reduce video quality or smoothness. We are continuing to improve this module, so video quality and performance should improve with future releases.
