Wake Word
The Wake Word module adds hands-free voice activation to MetaLensAI. Once enabled, the app listens for your configured wake phrase and starts the selected AI flow without requiring any on-screen tap.
Wake Word settings are available in the app under Settings > Wake word.
See it in action
Wake Word is designed to make conversations faster and more natural when using Meta smart glasses. After the phrase is detected, MetaLensAI can immediately open an inline Conversation session.
Current voice flow: say Hey Jarvis to start, then Hey Jarvis, shut it down to end the conversation.
Available settings
- Enable wake word turns listening on or off and requires microphone permission.
- Keep listening in background allows the service to keep listening when the app is not in the foreground.
- Route to module defines what should open after the wake phrase is detected.
Background listening is experimental. It may increase battery usage and can still be affected by Android background restrictions or vendor battery policies.
Currently available route: Start Conversations.
Additional routes are already visible in the UI but are not yet active: Live Vision AI, Go Live, Record Video to File, and Picture Analysis.
How to use it
- Open Settings > Wake word.
- Enable the wake word toggle.
- Grant microphone permission if prompted.
- Optionally enable Keep listening in background.
- Select Start Conversations as the route.
- Save your settings.
- Say Hey Jarvis to trigger the assistant.
What happens after invocation
- The wake phrase is detected locally on device.
- MetaLensAI starts an inline Conversation session.
- The app navigates into the Conversation experience.
- You can end the session with Hey Jarvis, shut it down.
- When the conversation ends, wake word listening can resume automatically if the feature is still enabled and all required conditions are met.
Requirements
- Wake Word must be enabled in settings.
- Microphone permission must be granted.
- The app must stay visible, unless background listening is enabled.
- The feature must not be temporarily suspended by another active module.
Important notes
- Background listening is still experimental.
- Battery consumption may increase when background listening is enabled.
- If another supported live module takes control, wake word listening may pause and resume later when possible.
- While active, the service shows a foreground notification with states such as listening, starting conversation, waiting for the required audio source, or paused.
